Dave Krause, co-founded Influential Drones and is the company President. He is an accomplished software architect, project manager and consultant with over 20-years of experience traveling to support Fortune 500 companies.
Dave is a volunteer member of the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Safety Team (FAASTeam program). He is recognized by the FAA Safety Team's national office and the Philadelphia flight standards district office as a DronePro, Lead Representative and an Industry Member. Dave actively promotes safety, the importance of developing standards and the value of an aviation safety culture. He also helps to create content for the UAS community on the FAA Safety Team website.
He was the 2021/22 co-chair of CompTIA's Drone Advisory Council. He contributed to the FAA's Drone Advisory Committee (DAC) as a member of TaskGroup 8 (Safety Culture) and TaskGroup 9 (UTM + Notify/Fly). The DAC became the Advanced Aviation Advisory Committee (AAAC). Dave has been a member of the NBAA's Emerging Technologies Committee since 2019. The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is the largest aviation membership association in the world. The committee maintains a focus on unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), advanced air mobility (AAM), unmanned traffic management (UTM), commercial space, other future technologies and associated infrastructure that will integrate with the National Airspace System (NAS).
In 2023, Dave was elected onto the new Drone Advisory Council (DAC) and the Drone Safety Team (DST), previously called the UAST. The DST is a different council than the FAAST program administered by the FAA. Both are industry positions, one focuses just on drones and works with the UAS Integration Office, the other involves all facets of aerospace and works with the safety division of the FAA. The Drone Safety Team (DST) has adopting the same collaborative model as the General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC) and the Commercial Aviation Safety Team (CAST) when working with industry and the FAA.
Dave is a senior advisor to the Urban Low Altitude Transport Association. He is on both the Unmanned Threat and CyberSecurity subcommittee for the US Coast Guard Area Maritime Security Committee (AMSC). He is the liaison for the DroneResponders Technical Advisor Program and an instructor for the Airborne Public Safety Association.
Dave teams with the Intelligent Systems Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in promoting operator proficiency and equipment capability standards for the unmanned industry and response robots. NIST is a federal agency under the U.S. Dept of Commerce. Krause is not a federal employee.
NIST recognizes Krause as a test administrator and Influential Drones as a Collaboration Facility for Response Robots. Dave is on ASTM committees: E54 on Homeland Security Applications and F48 on Exoskeletons and Exosuits.
Krause is an advocate for open communications, safety and standards. He believes strongly in the importance of establishing transparent relationships. Dave has written articles, presented at tradeshows, moderated and guest spoke on panels, talked on the radio, and was a subject matter expert on television regarding drone technology.
Dave is approachable, creative, honest and doesn't mind taking calculated, mitigated risks. He is active in philanthropic endeavors and when not working supports projects relating to aviation history, veterans and conservation.
