2022 New Year's Eve Set's Two Drone World Records

2022 New Year's Eve Set's Two Drone World Records

Ras Al Khaimah is the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is ruled by Emir, his Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi and is known for tourism. Now it is also known for breaking two world records with drones, during a 2022 New Years Celebration! The event was also a tribute to the UAE, paying tribute to it's  50th year of formation.

In a spectacular 12-minute presentation set to orchestral music, drones choreographed by light show company SkyMagic danced in the sky with over 15,000 pyrotechnic effects designed by Fireworks by Gucci for a 3rd year in a row at the UAE. The show covered an area over 4.7 kilometers (3 miles) and was visible over an additional kilometer away!

Although the commercial drone industry is quite new, noteworthy record breaking is not all that common. In previous years the fireworks team has contributed to several of the 425 Guinness World Records that the United Arab Emirates has tallied. The UAE has the most records amongst all of the Middle East and North Africa regions.

2022 New Year's Eve World Record #1: “Highest Altitude Multi-rotor/Drone Fireworks Display” in the formation of the tower of pyrotechnic drones at an altitude of 1,055.8 meters tall. At this elevation, the drones were higher than the Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai, the tallest building in the world at a height of 828 m (2,717 ft).

2022 New Year's Eve World Record #2: “Most Remote Operated Multi-rotor/Drones Launching Fireworks Simultaneously”, when 452 drones launched fireworks to create the “Happy New Year” visual in the sky.

It's nice to see drone's now added to the UAE world record count!

Watch the 2022 fireworks and drone display. Both records are within the 1st minute of the opening sequence. Enjoy!
