The Ion M440 by FLIR / Altavian is a tactical quadcopter designed with military, firefighter, police and special forces in mind. The system provides you with enhanced performance, regardless of your environment. Using advanced algorithms the Ion M440 drone is capable of flying in obstacle ridden and GPS degraded environments. The custom designed ground controller includes an optional Samsung T9 tactical smart phone. It is ATAK compatible and provides a tactical network interface, video, cursor on target, and more. The controller utilizes Altavian's QGroundControl software.

FIVE THERMAL PALETTE SETTINGS

GPS DENIED OPERABILITY
GPS denied drone technology allows for day and night time navigational enhanced performance during GPS denied/degraded environments. In GPS denied/degraded environments, operators can hold position and navigate via dead reckoning rather than errant flying and vehicle loss.

DAY/NIGHT OBSTACLE AVOIDANCE
Embedded collision avoidance sensors and advanced software algorithms allow safer flight by autonomous collision avoidance even at night. This provides a failsafe to prevent operators from striking the ION M440 into obstacles and structures in obstructive flying environments.

CURSOR ON TARGET
The ION M440 allows operators to specifically relay target intelligence given from the aircraft's Cursor Field of View (CFOV). The aircraft’s CFOV gives coordinates data for enhanced target processing, exploitation, and dissemination.

WHAT IS THE BLUE sUAS PROJECT?
The Blue sUAS project developed trusted small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) for the broader Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal Government partners. This effort builds upon the U.S. Army’s sUAS program of record, Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR), for an inexpensive, rucksack portable, vertical take-off and landing sUAS. Blue sUAS systems share the SRR air vehicles' capabilities but integrate a vendor provided ground control system.

Defense Innovation Unit's (DIU) Blue sUAS project provides an initial 5 secure, trusted sUAS options for DoD and Federal Government procurement that meet FY2020 NDAA Section 848 requirements. The Blue sUAS project does not preclude the Government from purchasing any other UAS that are certified compliant by the purchasing Government organization. DIU does not define Government sUAS compliance standards or provide sUAS security or drone certification for such other efforts.

      SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES
Certified to fly in DoD and national airspace and meet the criteria required for U.S. Government procurement. The table below provides basic information about all five drones' capabilities.

Each system has a variation of the below specifications and additional attributes to offer DoD and interagency customers.

      • Operational Range: 3+ kilometers
      • Flight Endurance: 30+ minutes
      • Environmental Rating: Flies through dust and rain (IP53)
      • Assembly Time: 2 minutes or less
      • Take-off Weight: Less than 3lbs
      • Payload: High Resolutions Day/Night Stabilized Optics
      • Architecture: Built around an open source protocol

      PROCUREMENT
Authorized Dealer Network: Purchase from an approved reseller/dealer

Production-Other Transaction Agreement: The successful completion of a prototype OT allows for a follow-on production OT to be executed with built-in sole source justification. A DoD organization can either choose to execute their own P-OTA with any one of the five Blue sUAS options or provide funding to purchase quantities off of an existing P-OT sponsored by a different organization within the DoD.

GSA Schedule: All five Blue sUAS systems will be available for purchase on the GSA schedule by September2020. Traditional methods for purchase through the GSA schedule include use of GSA Advantage for online purchasing.
